Stella hails from (north) Sweden but started deejaying in 1998 when she was living in London. After endless adventures, buzzing all over the planet for almost 10 years, love blew her mind and brought her to Amsterdam. What she really believes in is the power of music – and to have fun as much as possible "coz you never know when it's gonna end!"... Note that Stella Nutella has just relocated to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but still available for gigs worldwide.

How did you choose It?
When I was living in London many years ago an Italian friend started calling me Stella because she thought I shone like a star... It became my nickname just like that. Later my ex-boyfriend added the 'Nutella'-part because he realised I was a total nutter!

Vinyl junkie or CDs?
I have been travelling a lot and have played all over the world including parties on beaches and in jungles! All my best vinyl once melted in the hot sun at a festival. Therefore CDs proved to be much more practical! But lately I have rediscovered vinyl and I'm loving it. It's great when you have such a big piece of music in your hands... mmm.

How many records/CDs do you have?
A lot. But I left a huge part of my collection in Sweden, boohoo. What can I say... my car was too small!

What style of music do you play?
Depending of where I am; Psychedelic/progressive trance or Electro/techhouse. But, I have also played other styles at odd gigs; a glam house club, a 'poppy' wedding...

Where do you DJ?
All over the world but I would like to play more here in the Netherlands! I had a few years where I was travelling pretty much every weekend and it wears you out, I can tell you!

Your ideal DJ gig?
Hmm... I love playing eclipse festivals and I have been lucky to do quite a few... they take place wherever there is a total solar eclipse happening. I played at ones in Hungary in 1999, Zambia in 2001 and South Africa in 2003. Next month, I am playing the one in Turkey! My dream would be to do every single one of them in the future... because to see a total eclipse is just an absolutely magical experience! It makes the party special!

Last record/CD you bought?
It was a 12" on Areal Records: Ada – I Love Asphalt.

Current musical obsession?
Today I am listening to some pumping progressive house and digging it. I also played a nice gig in Madrid last week that made me love psy-trance again... but my main flavour for this year is definitely electroish techhouse.

Worst request?
I was once playing at a dodgy bar in London one New Year's Eve (how the f**k did I end up there?). Everything was crap, and the low point was when this teenager came up and wanted me to play some R&B. Then I knew it was time to run away!

Favourite record stores in Amsterdam?
Outland, I guess. And Deep 'n' Dance sometimes have great stuff too.

Favourite internet radio station
There are so many good ones listed in Itunes.. I keep finding new ones. I like Frisky, Dublab, Secret Agent... and I always listen to some station playing country music in the morning! It wakes you up in a very funny way! Like Cowboy Cultural Society... Yeehah!
