DJ Charley prefers to play less well-known recordings and fabulous cover versions made between approximately 1953-1973. With such a wide range of music to choose from, he admits to needing a lifetime searching and selecting the songs which still get people excited and moving. And believe him when he says: there are MANY tunes which have that effect on today's party people!

DJ name?
Charley Rhythm.

How did you choose It?
At first, I called myself 'Charly's Rhythm Revue' but people thought I would bring a whole Revue, with dancers and so on! A shorter name was better. Charley comes from my middle name.

Vinyl junkie or CDs?
BOTH! Cannot do without my vinyl, but a lot of good music from the sixties – which is normally impossible to find, very expensive or simply never been on record – one can find on re-issue CDs!

How many records/CDs do you have?
Let me count... about 1200 CDs and about the same amount of LPs, singles and EPs combined.

What style of music do you play?
On my site, I've made a list of styles... from Rhythm & Blues to Bluegrass, and from Mambo to Swing... all 'OLD STYLE'.

Where do you DJ?
Mostly at (not so big) places where people can dance... but I can have as much fun playing at the local pub as in the Melkweg.

Your ideal DJ gig?
Everybody shouting and dancing along on the tunes, good sound, happy atmosphere... and till LATE.

Last record/CD you bought?
Look out for the Cheater - Bob Kuban and the In-Men: late sixties white band who do soul songs and instrumentals.

Current musical obsession?
Ha ha, on internet I am looking for all the versions of Mah-na Mah-na... there are more than I thought. I always liked the Muppet version but last year I came across a Cuban version which sounds like it could have been the inspiration for the (supposedly) Italian Original.
